Soil Status 2026: Weekly Soil Temperatures Across Northwest Wisconsin

Understanding soil conditions is one of the biggest factors in making good spring decisions.


That’s why Red Cedar Ag is tracking weekly soil temperatures across Northwest Wisconsin to help growers better understand how the season is progressing.

Testing locations include:


1 – Rice Lake

2 – Barron

3 – Chetek

4 – Sand Creek

5 – Bloomer

6 – Colfax

7 – Chippewa Falls

8 – Eau Claire

9 – Augusta

10 – Hudson

How Soil Status 2026 Works

Using Soiltech wireless thermometers, we are monitoring soil temperatures from April through May.


Each day we track temperatures at:

  • 8:00 AM (typically the coldest soil temperature of the day)
  • 5:00 PM (typically the warmest soil temperature of the day)


Every Friday, we will post updated results so you can follow how soil temperatures are changing underground as planting season approaches.
